Frequently asked questions

Can a minor child travel abroad unaccompanied by parents?

If your child is travelling abroad unaccompanied by his or her parents, a notarised permission from the parents or guardians will be required for the child to leave Russia. This authorisation must contain the details of the person who will be accompanying the child. The consent of only one of the parents will be sufficient, unless the other parent has provided a statement that he or she does not agree to the departure of his or her children from the Russian Federation. A minor child may leave Russia with one parent without obtaining the consent of the other parent, but provided that the other parent has not provided a statement that he or she does not agree to the departure of his or her children from the Russian Federation. These recommendations apply to the departure from Russia of minor citizens of the Russian Federation. Different rules may apply when travelling from other countries. We recommend that you check the list of documents required to enter another country with the consulate/embassy of the country of entry before travelling.
